Interested initially in German and European product design, time spent living there allowed Ms Suzuki to notice the richness of her home region's ceramic tradition. On returning to Kasama, Ibaraki prefecture, she began training, in part as an apprentice to master potter Mr Akio Nukaga before establishing her own kiln in 2006. Now with her own kiln and studio, she embarks on ceramic journeys. Inspired by nature she sees locally, or by the colours she saw on her travels.
