Shigeki Tanaka Tekka Kurouchi Nakiri 165mm
Hammer forged by Shigeki Tanaka in Miki city, Gifu prefecture. Tanaka’s family forge has been operating for over a hundred years producing tools and cutlery, originally, they specialized in forging sickles.
This Kurouchi Knife has a unique aesthetic due to Tanaka’s processes. During the forging process, materials are exposed to temperatures over 700 degrees Celsius creating a layer of black oxidization on the blade. this film provides a sought-after quality, it makes the iron cladding less susceptible to rust. This 3-layer blade is made from Aogami-2 clad with soft iron, forged thin for superior cutting performance.
Please note: Due to the thinness of the Aogami carbon steel blade extreme care must be taken when using this knife.
