MINOYAKI PLAID PLATE (SMALL)
Mino ware (a.k.a Mino yaki in Japanese) is a ceramic ware which is produced in Gifu prefecture, Japan. It has a long history and tradition from Azuchi-momoyama era (1568-1600). What makes Mino yaki special is their wide variety of pottery. Mino ware has over 15 types of pottery as traditional crafts instead of a single style.
By deliberately using coarse clay containing small stones and combining it with a handpainted plaid pattern, a piece with a fresh new character has been created. The variations in colour that seep through the glaze give each item a truly unique expression.
