[Chopsticks] Wakasa lacquerware (called Wakasa-nuri in Japanese) is produced in the area around the city of Obama, Fukui prefecture. It is said to have originated in the early Edo period (1603-1868) when a craftsman serving the Obama domain (now the city of Obama), which controlled the region near Wakasa Bay, created a design depicting the beautiful depths of the sea.
[Chopsticks Rest] Mino ware (a.k.a Mino yaki in Japanese) is a ceramic ware which is produced in Gifu prefecture, Japan. It has a long history and tradition from Azuchi-momoyama era (1568-1600). What makes Mino yaki special is their wide variety of pottery. Mino ware has over 15 types of pottery as traditional crafts instead of a single style.
